The place is full of exotic views images, impressions and panoramas. The countless pagodas produce surrealistic scenery in the dry and flat area, the right objects for great photos. Especially in the early morning and before sunset, these stunning visual impressions are a feast for the eyes as seen in the following.

Until recent days the pagoda and temple builder

of Myanmar or Burma have set continuously countless pagodas and temples over a centuries-long period into the landscape. The main reason to built the pagodas and temples is to accumulate merit in the current life, to be in a better position in the next life. Many of the pagodas and temples of the past are gone, some by earthquakes, others during the Monsoon flood, but there are still more than enough for stunning pics. All buildings are done in brick construction and since the walls are not isolated they are prone to decay because of the large amount of rain during the Monsoon.

Great views and impressions

are also inside the buildings. Numerous murals adorn the inner walls of the temples and pagodas along with Buddha sculptures and images. The wall

paintings show mostly Jakata stories depicting the life of Buddha. In Bagan and its environs are also some Buddhist monasteries, showing magnificent wood carvings mostly created from teak wood. All this gives great pictures, similar views can be found at Ayutthaya and Sukhothai in Thailand.

tell the story in a higher dimension for more Bagan photos check here. The monuments are overwhelming, nobody has ever seen such sceneries and will never. Somehow its even more interesting than the pyramids of Egypt and temple of the Mayas. It tells all about the odd behavior of the old and new colonialist powers, English and US which advised UNESCO not to grant the World Heritage status when the government of the country applied to the obvious vassals of them in Geneva.

built over a timeframe of more than 1000 years. About 700 years ago there are some indications that around 6000 monuments, big and small were standing on the area in central Myanmar also called dry zone. Normal decay and monsoon floods washed away plenty of them.

Bagan dry zone, the city is in the center of the dry zone of Myanmar. Although the mighty Irrawaddy river is just at the west side everything is dry except at monsoon times and until about November. With a basic irrigation system the whole area could be made a garden Eden.
