This plants
are
just like any other plant and can even grow in your garden,
botanically speaking it's Papaver Somniferum plant, as everyone know its against the low but if someone really likes this red blossoms there is a good alternative to see blooming poppies and this is Papaver rhoeas, looks very similar to the opium poppy but has nothing in it which could be misused.
Seeds of both varieties and other plants in this direction are widely available throughout the world even through internet shops. The seeds could even be available in a good stocked spice shop since they are used as spices for various food. In Germany and Austria there is a popular small white bread where the people in the bakery scatter black poppy seeds and bake it, when it is fresh, the pastry is delicious. Many years ago I took some pastry with me when I went to Saudi Arabia (work assignment) not being aware of this, they guys at the airport searched me and found the pastry, there was a big bla bla
around since they didn't know about
this no narcotic version and I
didn't know that this has
botanically something to do with it.
It's similar to hemp,
the US government
declared as a drug but there is hemp and hemp which looks very similar but the active narcotic substance is only in one of them.
A that time the US president had a deep relationship with DuPond and they just
invented the artificial fiber, they
worked together to get hemp banned and after DuPond
had the whole fiber market and made
gigantic profits, its typical

The thing is, in most countries the plant itself is not illegal only the resulting substance is illegal but growing it knowingly is again illegal, got the message?
A poppy flower
have been throughout history a symbol represent war veterans as we know from the Flanders Field in Belgium where some of the worst battles were fought in the WW1. Myths tell that this particular opium plant once stood snow white but morphed into blood red color after a fierce battle.
The ancient civilizations of the Middle East,
Babylon, Sumer etc. were most likely the first who used the opium for various applications, one was for pleasure as the name indicated translated somehow "joy plant", this was already over 3000B.C.

opium was discovered and the substance was mainly used as a painkiller and gave the name in Latin which is Somniferum
means inducing, to get it to
the point, don't use it gets
you and all others around
you into deep trouble
because it changes your
brain and you don't know
