The almost forgotten village of Sagar
on the
banks of the Beluo Chaung river at the Shan
Plateau near Lake Inle. Many old
stupas and Nat shrines in sometimes
miserable conditions, half overgrown by
the jungle remember - there
was something here some times ago.
Before and during British colonial times the
region was ruled by a Sawbwa. All Sawbwa's
where eliminated during the time when Ne
Win, one of the worst communist - fascist
style dictator in Asia came to power after
the second world war.
Beluo
Chaung river, lush green fields and semi
jungle give a pleasant view. Passing Taung-to
village and its old pagodas one comes a
little bit later to Kyaing Kan Village where
monk's robes are made from fibers of the
lotus stems, a rather unique process not
used elsewhere. Usually all
the villages have some kind of market at
different days its worth it to have a
look, maybe try the local food and and
marvel the colorful costumes. |
