The Myanmar mountains in Kachin State are the place for adventure tours/ trekking. This are the extensions of the Tibetan Himalayas and raw natur, since the British left Burma no foreigners came in here. The highest mountain is SE Asia is here, that's Mt. Hkakabo Razi (picture below), with 5,900 meters. Conquered first time in 1997 by a group of Japanese and Myanmar mountain climbers. Putao is the nearest town with an airport and there are daily flights from Yangon to this remote area. Sveral travel agents offer package tour programs which are the most appropriate means of travel here because there is no hotel etc. it needs to be organized first.

Mountain ranges with plenty of snow and glaciers all year round, a pristine environment. Fruits and vegetables grown here are rice, maize, millet cereal crops, cucumbers, gourds and marrows.

There are pine, hemlock and fir plus some larch. From around 2,700 meters to 3,700 meters its conifer forests. Also hardwood such as oak, birch, maple, walnut, chestnut is around plus rhododendron and others. Unfortunately this is only at areas not accessible by road. Where there is a road the trees are cut by Chinese and local poachers.
